What is the IRWM?

Integrated Regional Water Management (IRWM) is a collaborative effort to manage all aspects of water resources in a region.


  • Crosses jurisdictional, watershed, and political boundaries
  • Involves multiple agencies, stakeholders, individuals, and groups
  • Addresses regional issues and differing perspectives of all the entities involved through mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Develops multi-benefit solutions

The RWMG is working on the IRWM Plan's implementation phase. The next meeting is set for Wednesday, November 2, 2016, 10:00am - 12:00pm at SLO Library Community Room.

Region Acceptance Process



Implementation Grants

The San Luis Obispo County IRWM was awarded $3,702,762 for the final Proposition 84 soliciation round on January 13, 2016. The three water resources projects proposed for grant funding are located in Templeton, Oceano, and San Simeon.
