Identification of Basins Requiring Salt and Nutrient Management (SNMPs) Planning (funded by Prop 84 Planning Grant)

The San Luis Obispo County IRWM Region received $1M Proposition 84 Round 2 Planning Grant funding. This funding is distributed amongst the IRWM Plan update and six planning studies, which help to address key planning needs in the county. Of the full grant, $14,708 is funding the Identification of Basins Requiring Salt and Nutrient Management (SNMPs) Planning

This focused planning study will be led by the District. The degree of organized management of basins in the region varies widely and there is a general lack of awareness of the Recycled Water Policy (RWP) of the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board). It is recognized that smaller, unorganized Basins may be at a disadvantage for complying with the RWP. Therefore, this task seeks to identify the basin study areas where SNMPs are needed in the region, the relevant stakeholders to lead the development of each, regional priorities, goals and objectives for developing the SNMPs and consolidation of information to assist identified stakeholders with developing and implementing the SNMPs.
