Salt and Nutrient Management Plan (SNMP) for the Paso Robles Groundwater Basin (funded by Prop 84 Planning Grant)

The San Luis Obispo County IRWM Region received $1M Proposition 84 Round 2 Planning Grant funding. This funding is distributed amongst the IRWM Plan update and six planning studies, which help to address key planning needs in the county. Of the full grant, $100,000 is funding the City of Paso Robles's Salt and Nutrient Management Plan (SNMP) for the Paso Robles Groundwater Basin.

This project, led by the City of Paso Robles, is to develop a complete SNMP for the Paso Robles Groundwater Basin that meets all of State Water Resources Control Board’s Recycled Water Policy (Policy) requirements. The SNMP will serve as model for the SLO Region by develop salt and nutrient management planning recommendations based on lessons learned and feedback from the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB).

The following local agencies have agreed to collaborate on the development of a Salt and Nutrient Management Plan for the Paso Robles Groundwater Basin: County of San Luis Obispo, City of Atascadero, Templeton Community Services District, City of Paso Robles, San Miguel Community Services District, Camp Roberts (California National Guard); and Heritage Ranch Community Services District. These “primary stakeholders” are sharing the cost of developing the SNMP.
