San Luis Obispo County provides water and/or sewer services for specific County Service Areas (CSA’s). These services are
managed through issuance of water/sewer Will Serve Letters which describe the address and service to be provided.

What is a Will Serve Letter?
A Will Serve Letter is an agreement between a CSA resident and the San Luis Obispo County Public Works Department to
provide water or sewer service.
Who needs a Will Serve Letter?
Individuals requesting new water or sewer service for a single service (i.e. one house, one business, etc.) located in a CSA.
How do I get a Will Serve Letter?
Individuals requesting water or sewer service for a single service must complete a Request for Water or Sewer Availability Letter.

The applicant must fill out the form with the following information:
1) Name, current address and telephone number for both applicant and agent,
2) New service property street address,
3) Assessor's Parcel Number, and lot and block numbers for the property for which service is being requested,
4) Planning Dept. development file number (if the property owner has it).
District staff shall verify the subject property is located within the county service area and provide an estimate for the
associated service connection service fees. Current rates vary based on service type, and CSA. Once payment has been
received by the Public Works Department Accounting staff (805)781-5597, the district operator shall be
directed to proceed with the appropriate service installation.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the potential for liability, all service line and/or water main installations must be
performed by either District staff or a licensed contractor on contract with the County. An applicant for water service
CAN NOT use their own contractor for these installations.
